The Ministry of Finance of Montenegro recently issued an important regulation that regulates amendments related to the previously valid regulation on state aid matters. Below is a summary of the latest changes:
Amendment Regulation on the List of State Aid Rules
In order to align Montenegro’s regulations with the rules of the European Union, the Ministry of Finance has issued the Amendment Regulation on the List of State Aid Rules. This regulation aims to enhance the control of state aid in accordance with relevant updated EU provisions.
Key Novelties: Increase in the Upper Limit of De Minimis Aid
One of the key novelties in this regulation is the increase in the upper limit of de minimis aid that a single company can receive per member state in any three-year period. The new limit is EUR 300,000.00, reflecting inflation and estimated trends during the validity period of relevant EU regulations. This increase was necessary to ensure that state aid does not affect trade between member states and does not disrupt market competition.
This regulation came into effect on 2 April 2024.
