The following regulations came into force at the beginning of July this year: Law on Ratification of the Convention on a Common Transit Procedure (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia – International Contracts”, no. 13/2015) and the Law on Ratification of the Convention on Simplification of Formalities in Trade of Goods (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia – International Contracts”, no. 13/2015). These Conventions, dating from 1987, significantly improve and simplify the international transit procedure and oblige signatory countries to use up to date information technologies on the customs territories of the Member States of the European Union, EFTA and Turkey.
The Convention on a Common Transit Procedure lays down measures for the carriage of goods in transit between signatory countries, including, where applicable, goods transshipped, re-consigned or warehoused, by introducing a common transit procedure regardless of the kind and origin of goods.
The Convention on Simplification of Formalities in Trade of Goods lays down the measures to simplify formalities in trade of goods between the signatory countries, in particular by introducing a single administrative document to be used for any procedure during export and import and for a common transit procedure, applicable to trade between the signatory countries regardless of the kind and origin of goods.
